Jeep Might Have a New Baby

If you think the Renegade is really small, wait until you see what Jeep’s cooking up next. Automotive News says it has confirmation of the rumors that a “baby Jeep” is coming in the near future. Before you get too excited, know that this tiny SUV probably won’t hit North America, because we like our Jeeps large, our TV loud, and our beer cold.

The fact this info came from Mike Manley, the head of Jeep, while he was talking to the press in Detroit last week adds all the necessary credibility. The report does emphasize that nothing has been finalized on this tiny Jeep, as confirmed by Manley. In other words, it may not happen. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if Jeep purposely floated this info, just to see how people react to the possibility.

Mostly, this smaller-than-the-Renegade model would be for shoppers in Europe, plus “other global markets.” We know that means Asia, where parking and even street space can get a little tight. Something super small would be ideal in those areas, because trust me, a Wrangler may as well be a limo when it comes to practicality in some cities.
