There have been rumors and reports of a BMW M7 for years now. There have even been reports of BMW filing for a trademark on the M7 moniker. Unfortunately, the M7 has yet to become a reality, but Alpina has been happy to give potential M7 buyers a consolation prize with its hopped-up 7 Series known as the B7. Today, Alpina showed that it will fill this void once again with a new teaser video (below) that shows off the new-generation B7.

Based on the redesigned 7 Series, the B7 features all the same new bits as its donor car. Things like the new headlights, the new taillights, and more all make their way from the 7 Series to the B7. What’s more, the B7 also gets the added benefit of the new Carbon Core construction, which reduces the 7er’s weight and makes it more rigid. This should play right into Alpina’s hands.

While the bodywork of the B7 is under cover in the video, for the most part, it is pretty easy to spot the larger rear spoiler, the redesigned rear bumper, and the aggressive rocker extensions.

What lies under the hood remains unconfirmed for now, but it is a near certainty that the B7 will continue to use BMW’s 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V-8. In its base form, this engine pumps out a damn-fine 445 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque, which gets the 7 Series to 60 mph in as little as 4.3 seconds. Once Alpina gets a hold of this engine, look for it to get its wick cranked up to around 540 horsepower and 540 pound-feet of twist, which could translate to a 4.1-second sprint time with BMW’s xDrive system.

Alpina hasn’t officially announced a debut date for its new B7, but all signs point toward it breaking cover in Geneva this year. We’ll bring you more concrete news once Alpina and BMW stop with the teasing and get on with the revealing, so stay tuned for more details.
