Porsche Reveals a Navigation System for its Classics
Classic cars are a hoot, and there is just something special about Porsche 911s of yesteryear. Sure, they may not be as fast as the current models or handle as well, but that connection with the road that you get in these true sports cars with no electronic nannies to babysit you is an amazing experience. But sometimes a little technology in an old car is a good thing. One tech gadget that comes to mind here is navigation. Unfortunately, with classic 911s using a DIN-1 slot, there is little room for a large navi screen and all the technical bits behind it.
Well, Porsche now has a solution for you, as it has revealed a navigation system designed specifically to fit in its classic sports cars’ DIN-1 slot. What’s more, it not only fits in the slot, but its two rotary knobs and black finish are period correct too.
This tiny navigation system features “PORSCHE” lettering at the top, a 3.5-inch display, 180 watts of power, Bluetooth connectivity, 2D and 3D modes, and an external microphone. Because this is a true Porsche item, it can connect directly to the speakers of your classic rig or to more advanced systems via an adaptor cable.
This unique navigation system is now available in Germany for €1,184, and it is in its final testing phase in the U.S., so it should be available here soon, we’ll bring you the final pricing details once Porsche reveals them.
