2018 Volkswagen Tiguan Gets a Sporty R-Line Package
R-Line packages are nothing new for VW models, but for the completely redesigned Tiguan, it is a new wrinkle that this expanded crossover needs.
Like all R-Line packages, the one for the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan takes this otherwise pedestrian crossover and sports it up just a touch. It does this on the outside with 19-inch Trenton wheels on the SEL trim, 20-inch Braselton wheels on the SEL Premium trims, an updated front bumper with restyled air intakes, a new rear bumper with a gloss-black diffuser, body-color wheel flare extensions, side skirts, and R-Line badges.
Inside, the sportiness carries on with an R-Line logo on the touchscreen at startup, an R-Line steering wheel badge, a black headliner, stainless-steel sport pedal covers, and stainless-steel door sills with the R-Line logo.
Though it looks sportier, the Tiguan R-Line will carry the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and eight-speed automatic transmission as the base model.
The R-Line package will add $1,795 to the SEL trim, and on top of its sporty features, it also includes front and rear park-distance control. On the SEL Premium, which already includes the parking assist feature, the R-Line package will run an extra $1,495.
The 2018 Tiguan is on sale now, and the R-Line package will be available in the first quarter of 2018.
