The STX Package Gives the F-Series’ XL Trim a Boost Without a Huge Price Hike
With fuel prices low and fuel economy improving, pickup trucks are gaining a lot of steam, particularly the F-Series. With this growing demand for pickups as daily drivers, Ford has released a new package that offers buyers a more stylish look and extra features without a huge price increase to the base F-150 and F-Series Super Duty pickups.
Slotted between the XL and XLT trims, the STX Appearance Package gives buyers with their sights set on an upscale trim but have the budget only slightly north of the base XL trim something that can suit both their taste and budget.
On the F-150, this package builds upon the base XL trim level. It enhances the look and feel of this otherwise stripped-out pickup with 20-inch machined-aluminum wheels with dark-grey-painted pockets, a black, billet-style grille with a body-color surround, body-color bumpers and front fascia, Sync 3 with an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, privacy glass, unique black sport cloth seats, a flow-through center console, an “STX Sport” decal, fog lights, and lumbar support for the driver and passenger seats.
Like the F-150, the STX Appearance Package for the F-Series Super Duty (F-250 and F-350) pickups is built upon the base XL trim. This package tosses in a chrome grille, chrome front and rear step bumpers, “STX” fender-vent badges, exclusive aluminum wheels, steering-wheel-mounted cruise control, bright hub covers, and an AM/FM audio system with a CD player.
As for pricing, Ford offers the F-150 STX in SuperCab or SuperCrew configurations with prices starting from $35,615 (a $5,015 increase over the base XL SuperCab). The F-Series Super Duty models’ STX Appearance Packages are available with all cab configurations and pricing starts from $34,910 for the F-250 and $36,080 for the F-350—$2,375 premiums over their respective XL trims.
