Before, we reported on the rumor (it’s still not officially confirmed) that BMW will make an all-electric version of the i8. Most people just assume the car is an EV, because it looks pretty technologically advanced, but it’s really a hybrid.

Now, details about the upcoming all-electric BMW i8 are leaking out, thanks to Automobile Magazine. It should be pretty reliable as an everyday vehicle, with a range of about 300 miles. That’s definitely BMW’s answer to Tesla, which has been pushing the envelope on this front.

BMW will also be coming up with an answer to Ludicrous Mode. Supposedly the i8 will throw down big with three motors, each pumping out 268 horsepower. Total system output is rumored to be about 750 horsepower. That’s a huge jump over the 357 horsepower churned out by the current-gen i8.

Automobile Magazine dropped a bomb by saying it believes the car will have all-wheel steering, too. Torque vectoring is supposed to be in the mix, as well as an advanced active suspension system that scans the road for surface changes.

Expect to see the second-gen BMW i8 in 2022. Will Tesla have leapt too far ahead by then, making these advancements outdated? We’ll see.
