The pony car wars keep roaring. This time, Ford is firing back at Dodge and its Challenger SRT Hellcat. The Blue Oval revealed at SEMA the King Cobra package for the 2015 Mustang GT, and it packs an incredible punch.

The kit was designed to be used on the street and drag strip, boosting the Mustang GT’s output from 435 horsepower to a prodigious 600-plus horsepower. Right now, MOPAR fans are laughing because the Hellcat V-8 pushes out 707 horsepower, but they’re missing the operative “plus.” That could mean an additional 20, 50, or even 107 horsepower.

Unlike regular aftermarket parts, Mustang GT owners will be able to keep their full warranty, plus have the performance parts under warranty as well. To do this, the kit must be installed at an authorized dealer.

To push the 2015 Ford Mustang GT to even higher performance levels, three different options packages were installed. The Drag Pack comes with parts that keep the car firmly planted on the drag strip, like a rear sub-frame kit with high-performance bushings and hefty half shafts. The Handling Pack includes front and rear lowering springs that drop the car’s ride height by an inch. Pre-assembled front struts are included, along with a stabilizer bar setup and performance rear shocks.

Topping things off is the Super Pack, which includes a 2.3L Twin Vortices Series (TVS) supercharger kit, which was developed jointly between Ford Racing and Roush Performance. Other components included in the pack are a performance intake manifold, electronic throttle body, a belt drive system with six ribs, new fuel rail, high-flow injectors, air inlet setup, an air-to-liquid intercooler, and computer calibrations by Ford Racing.

According to Ford Racing, the Mustang King Cobra is a true ten-second car. It logged a quarter-mile time of 10.97 seconds during testing. Of course, nothing has been confirmed by NHRA or SAE, so some questions about the car’s performance capabilities will linger for now.
