Though the spotlight has been mostly shined upon the RS version of the new Focus, we need to remember that there is an entire lineup of Focuses that just received a pretty comprehensive refresh. And Ford is here to remind us of that and to highlight the new advanced stability control that the 2015 Focus comes with.

This new stability control system, known as enhanced transitional stability technology, takes into account the car’s speed, steering wheel position, turn rate of the wheel, and other variable to determine when skidding is imminent. Within milliseconds of sensing a likely skid, the stability control system begins braking individual wheels to reduce the risk of losing control.

The system takes just 100 to 200 milliseconds to recognize and respond to a skidding threat, which is, of course, significantly faster than any human could every process a threat and react to it. You can check out the video below to see the new system in action.

So how much does this newfangled system cost you? Nothing, according to Ford. It is actually part of the 2015 Ford Focus’ standard features. A base Focus sedan runs $17,170, while the hatchback model checks in at $18,960.
