Fiat Tries Toughening Up the 500X

Let’s be honest here: the Fiat 500X, like every other Fiat model, just isn’t selling. What’s weird is that in this SUV-crazed market this is one of the few SUVs that’s getting skipped over. Not to just sit idly by, Fiat is taking dramatic steps to make the 500X stand out, announcing a new Adventurer Edition.

Adventurers and true outdoorsmen don’t need a white interior, so you can only get this SUV with a black or brown interior. J-Lo won’t be endorsing it, either.

It gets even more rugged with 18-inch aluminum wheels that look awesome caked with mud, front and rear splash mats to contain that mud, black roof rails, cross bows, orange mirror caps and graphics for the sides, plus all-weather floormats.

Are you ready to ditch your Jeep for this thing? Might I remind you that it shares a platform with the Jeep Renegade, which has been outselling its Italian sibling by about 10 to 1. That, right there, proves that people do indeed buy image, or at least enough of them do.

If you’re ready to load a deer carcass onto that murdered-out black roof rack, Fiat will charge $945 for the Adventurer Edition package, which you can add to front-wheel and all-wheel-drive 500X models.
