BMW Thins Out its Model Lineup
Times are changing in the auto industry, and with that comes the death of quite a few model lines. This thinning of the herd has reached BMW, which announced three model lines will not be continued for the 2020 lineup.
The three dead lines are the 3 Series GT, 6 Series GT, and 6 Series Gran Coupe. The first two really aren’t surprises, considering the GT models were always a little odd, heavy, and nothing even close to performance-oriented. If you really want a liftback on your Bimmer, there are several crossover models to choose from.
Then there’s the 6 Series Gran Coupe. It and the GT were the last of the 6 Series left standing. Rumors have been swirling that with the 8 Series doing so well and expanding, BMW was going to ditch the 6 Series. Those turned out to be true.
Does this mean the 8 Series will get its own GT bubble butt model? We can only hope not, because with that awful design finally being purged from the 3 Series, it looks like it’s gone for good.
