An Even Wilder BMW M2 Reportedly Given the Green Light
The BMW M2 is already one of the most awesome compact luxury rigs money can buy. With 365 horsepower at its disposal, a 4.1-second 0-to-60 time, a 7:58 Nürburgring lap, and a 3,450-pound curb weight, it outperforms just about anything in its class. So, why not make it even better?
That’s precisely what appears is happening as Auto Bild is reporting that BMW has already given the green light to a CSL version of the fast 2 Series. Like any CSL model that Bimmer crafts, the M2 CSL would feature a distinct body kit that includes wider wheel arches to fit the larger wheels, special front and rear aprons, and a fixed wing.
In addition to the aero work, BMW would also work on lightening the M2 by stripping out all the unnecessary bits in the cabin, like the rear seats, the audio system, and maybe even the air conditioning.
The final touch to complete the CSL package would be to up the power a bit. As standard, the M2 already has a stout 365 ponies at its disposal, but the CSL would likely push the 3.0-liter straight-six to nearly 400 horses, making this one badass street and track rig.
Pricing isn’t official yet, but look or something in the €90,000 ($100,260) range. That’s a whole lot of cash for a 2er… Stay tuned for updates.
