2016 Scion tC Gets a Few Tweaks and a Small Price Bump

Scion continues to struggle to gain footing in the industry, as even its top-selling tC isn’t a very fast-selling vehicle relative to other volume cars. In the past few years, Scion has done all it can to improve upon the tC, including a refresh in 2014. Now, with the 2016 model coming on fast, Scion has released the mildly updated tC.

On the outside the 2016 tC is identical to the 2015 model save for the addition of a rear windshield wiper – how 1990s of Scion to finally equip the tC with this rear wiper.

Like the outside, the interior of the 2016 tC remains basically unchanged from the 2015 model year. If you look closely, however, you will notice a new Pioneer audio system with a 7-inch sits in the place of the old 6.1-inch standard unit. This audio system includes AM/FM/HD radio, voice recognition, Bluetooth with streaming audio, and the Aha app.

An even more detailed search of the cabin will uncover new silver door handles, a new center console tray cover, and a standard leather-wrapped shifter knob.

The improvements are certainly minor, and they will likely not move the sales needle a bit. However, this at least shows some effort from Scion to keep itself relevant.

Pricing for the tC will start at $19,385 with the six-speed manual transmission and $20,535 with the automatic transmission, which features paddle shifters and Dynamic Rev Match. Those MSRPs add up to $175 increases over the 2015 tC. The 2016 tC will hit showrooms in August 2015.
