Ford Mustang Sales Mysteriously Slump

Oh how the mighty have fallen! Not too long ago, Ford was bragging about how popular the Mustang is, even in markets like Germany. Now, it’s had to stop production of the car for a week because the demand isn’t there.

Could it be all those surging sales meant people who want Mustangs already got them?

Bloomberg took a look at the issue, noting that for the first time in almost two years, the Chevy Camaro outsold its rival in September. Of course, you can get a Camaro for dirt cheap right now, thanks to some heavy incentives. Chevrolet has quite a few 2016 models it needs to dump, like a 139-day supply of them, and that’s probably where the sales surge is coming from.

Of course, those of the bowtie persuasion will just say it’s the better pony car and people are waking up to that fact. Or all those Cars and Coffee crashes have finally taking a toll on the Mustang’s image.

Another, darker, explanation for the Ford Mustang sales slump is that the auto market here and worldwide is starting to slump. Plenty of industry sources that are pretty respectable have been warning that things are turning down, because people just don’t have the cash for new cars, again.

The good news is come October 17, Mustang production will fire up again.
