Toyota Launches Changes With 2019 4Runner

The Toyota 4Runner, an icon in the automotive world, is turning 35. To celebrate, Toyota introduced some big changes for the 2019 model year.

If you like to hit trails, you might be interested in the TRD Pro version of the 4Runner. For 2019 there’s a big addition with 2.5-inch Fox Internal Bypass Shocks, which are supposed to increase damping precision at any speed. Up front, the shocks work with TRD-tuned coil springs for a one-inch bump in ride height. For the rear shocks, remote reservoirs are included to account for hard hits on trails. An aluminum front skid plate that’s a quarter inch thick is another performance upgrade.

TRD Pro models also get a new TRD roof rack so you can throw your gear or maybe a rooftop tent on the SUV. A moonroof and JBL Premium Audio system are also standard for 2019.

Anyone shopping for a Limited model can get a murdered out version of their 4Runner from the factory, if that’s your thing. An optional Nightshade Special Edition package adds 20-inch black wheels, black bumpers, and black grille accents to the SUV. The cabin also gains black trim pieces for good measure.
