Feature Swapping Dominates 2019 VW Tiguan Updates
Last year, the Volkswagen Tiguan got a new look and went big. By “going big,” we mean it literally stretched out, turning its onetime-tortuous rear seats into a tolerable space for kids and adults. The 2019 VW Tiguan will carry on with the same looks and space, but it will see a little feature shuffling as the automaker adds value to various trims.
The SE trim level receives a new standard alarm system that was once unavailable below the SEL trim. The Volkswagen Digital Cockpit and Park Distance Control step down from the range-topping SEL Premium trim and into the Tiguan SEL.
Midway through the 2019 model year, Volkswagen also will change the Tiguan’s trim offerings. It will drop the SEL R-Line trim and replace it with the SEL R-Line Jet-Black trim. The new trim will be similarly equipped when compared to the SEL R-Line, but it will gain new black-painted 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and black exterior trimming.
The rest of the 2019 Tiguan lineup will remain unchanged, including its standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque.
There is no official release date for the 2019 Tiguan yet, but its pricing will be as follows:
- S FWD: $24,295
- S AWD: $25,595
- SE FWD: $26,695
