Limited-Run 2020 Alfa-Romeo 4C Italia Essentially Has a $5K Paint Job

I am a massive fan of the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, and there is little it can do to sour me on my feelings toward this tiny, lightweight rig. But the special-edition 2020 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider Italia version comes close, as it is little more than Alfa playing games with supply and demand by tossing in an “exclusive” paint job that’s not all that special.

The 2020 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider Italia gains a piano black front air intake and rear diffuser, and an exclusive Misano Blue Metallic paint job. To further dress things up, Alfa adds special “4C Spider Italia” badges to the rear quarter panel. Inside, the 4C Italia gets an aluminum dash insert with the “4C Spider Italia” logo and a numbered plate on the center console.

While there is nothing wrong with any of these updates, the issue is they come at a hefty $5,000 premium over the 4C’s base price.

What this all adds up to is a $5,000 premium for an “exclusive” paint job that’s really not much more than the typical blue you see on dozens of cars a day. Oh, and you get the right to own a piece of engineered rarity, as Alfa will produce just 15 of the 4C Spider Italia.

While I am unimpressed by this limited-run 4C, I still have all the love in the world for you, 4C Spider. Let’s make sure the next special-edition model is actually special.
