Nissan Reveals The Bonkers BladeGlider EV

Nissan’s electrification efforts have mostly centered around the Leaf, an overall boring, nerdy car. The company could strike out in a new direction with the BladeGlider, which will compete at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the Supercar Run.

For now, the BladeGlider is a prototype, but we can all fantasize. The driver sits in the middle, with two rear seats flanking it, similar to the McLaren F1. In all honesty, it’s too radical and impractical to ever be turned into a production car.

We don’t know much about the BladeGlider’s specs, other than it goes 0-62 mph in 5 seconds. But you can see in the video above, it seems to serve up plenty of quiet excitement. The car even has drift mode. Of course, full torque output is available at a standstill, which makes for quick launches. It’ll be interesting to see if Nissan has worked out top-end power, a weak point for EVs up to now.
