Aston Martin Makes the Insane Vulcan Even Crazier With AMR PRO Model
Two years ago, Aston Martin opened some eyes with the release of its track-only Vulcan. This automotive slab of insanity is awesome enough as is, but Aston Martin is taking it up a notch with an even more extreme version.
Dubbed the Vulcan AMR Pro, this track-only vehicle went under the careful knife of Aston’s newly formed AMR performance arm. The focus in this revision is aerodynamics, but there is a little lightening mixed in too.
Up front, the Vulcan AMR Pro gains louvered panels above the wheel arches to reduce lift, a set of dive planes for additional downforce, a large front splitter with turning vanes for improved steering response, and a 5 kg (11-pound) lighter hood.
Around back, this rig gains a new dual-plane rear wing with a 20 mm (0.8-inch) gurney flap and additional 15 mm (0.6-inch) gurney flaps to increase downforce.
The aero updates takes the Vulcan’s downforce from 3,150 nM to a massive 4,000 nM — for reference, the 2017 Le Mans-winning Aston Martin Racing Vantage GTE has only 3,104 nM of downforce.
Aston Martin hasn’t officially revealed when the Vulcan will hit customers’ driveways, but it says it will be sometime in the fall.
