Nissan Will Finally Show Us A New Z Concept

It might be hard to believe after all this time, but Nissan supposedly will finally show everyone a new Z concept. This is coming from a Car and Driver report, but we’ve heard this sort of thing before, so I’m understandably a little skeptical.
Apparently, this new Z will have a front grille that looks like the GT-R’s. It’ll ride on the same platform as the Infiniti Q60. These aren’t shocking revelations, but instead sound like Nissan’s playing it safe, if they’re true.
The real question is how much the 370Z’s successor will end up costing. We have a serious shortage of affordable sports cars these days. Maybe it’s our own fault, because the Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 sell slow, while crossovers like the Honda CR-V fly off lots.
Other revelations in the Car and Driver report include the new Z car using the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 engines from the Q60. The claim is the entry-level model will come with 300 horsepower, the mid-grade will make 400 horsepower, and hybrid version of the car will pump out 500 horsepower. Others are claiming the entry-level model will have a naturally-aspirated engine.
None of this could be true. How many times has Nissan teased us with a new Z, only for nothing to materialize? Oh, and don’t even get me started on the IDx. And there were rumors that the new Z is going to be a crossover.
The Tokyo auto show is a safe bet for a Z reveal, so we’ll just guess that’s when it’ll happen.
