Mercedes GLC Sales Push Past 1 Million Mark

File this under proof that SUVs rule the automotive market: Mercedes-Benz says the GLC has achieved over one million sales. Naturally, that includes sales of the GLK, the predecessor of the current model.

The GLK launched back in 2008. It switched to the GLC in 2015, with sales climbing steadily. First-half sales for 2017 have outstripped first-half sales for any other year.

The little GLC has actually been outselling the GLE, GLS, and every other SUV made by Mercedes-Benz. People can’t get enough of the little SUV, especially in China, the US, Germany, France, and the UK. What’s more amazing is that most GLC owners in China are under 40.

Meanwhile, in the United States, the GLC appeals to men and women equally, with half of owners being male, and the other half female. Apparently, it’s the vehicle couples can agree on.

If the small SUV trend continues, the GLC probably will achieve 2 million sales in only a few years.
