The Toyota RAV4 Gets Adventurous and More Aggressive

No one in their right mind would call the RAV4 aggressive. But Toyota is doing its best to change that view with the new RAV4 Adventure it released in the Windy City.

The new RAV4 Adventure will make folks do a doubletake with its large fender flares, 18-inch wheels with 235/55R18 rubber, lower body protection, and black headlight bezels, fog light surrounds, roof rack and Adventure badging. Buyers can choose from five colors: Black, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Silver Sky Metallic, Super White, and the new Ruby Flare Pearl. In the images, Toyota shows a black decal down the center of the crossover, but makes no mention of it in the press release.

Inside, the RAV4 Adventure gains unique trim panels (no specifics or images provided), a leather-wrapped shifter, a 120-volt power outlet in the cargo area, Adventure doorsill protectors, and all-weather floormats with the Adventure logo.

2018 Toyota RAV4 Adventure

The RAV4 Adventure doesn’t just look the part of a more capable crossover – it actually is. Sure, it’s not ready to tackle hard-core off-road duty, but its automatic limited-slip differential on front-driven models or optional Dynamic Torque All-Wheel Drive, tow prep package, upgraded radiator with oil and transmission coolers, and higher ride height, all make it a bit better off the beaten path than the standard RAV4.

Pricing is not yet available on the 2018 RAV4 Adventure, but Toyota expects to have it in showrooms in September 2017. Stay tuned for updates.
