TVR Unveils The New Griffith

British sports car brand TVR is back in business and has revealed the all-new Griffith. Using the Goodwood Revival as the perfect backdrop, the automaker unveiled the vehicle. Reactions have been mixed, thanks to polarizing looks.

Some people have said the Griffith has “crazy eyes.” I learned from Pixar a car’s eyes are in the windshield, I guess, but the front end of the Griffith can be a little off-putting. I think the headlights actually resemble the Star Trek insignia, at least somewhat, and that’s not a good thing in my mind.

Other than that, the Griffith looks well ironed-out. Side-exit exhausts not too far behind the front wheel arch are a nice, sporty touch you don’t see in too many production vehicles these days.

At the heart of this TVR is a potent Cosworth 5.0-liter V-8. It throttles out a peak 480 horsepower, and growls like a grizzly. Thankfully, TVR is doing its part to preserve manual transmissions around the world. As a true sports car, the Griffith features rear-wheel drive.

Under the skin, you get plenty of lightweight but rigid carbon fiber. That should help performance in every way. TVR claims this car can hit 200 mph.

Only 550 Launch Edition models will be made. TVR claims they’ll go for under £90,000. Sorry, but this one isn’t coming to America, but one can hope TVR jumps into the market here.
