2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo Finally Breaks Cover

Just days ago, we learned about the all-new 2019 Porsche Cayenne, but the German automaker held back on the Cayenne Turbo information. Today, we learn all about the new Turbo model, and it’s pretty badass.

Of course, the general appearance of the 2019 Cayenne Turbo is the same as the standard Cayenne. However, it does gain some specific bits to set it apart, including double-row front light modules, widened wheel arches with painted trim, exclusive 21-inch wheels, and a unique twin-tailpipe design. Also unique is the active aero, which includes an adaptive rear spoiler that can increase downforce or act as an airbrake at higher speeds.

Inside, the new Cayenne Turbo perfectly combines technology, luxury, and performance. It comes standard with the Porsche Advanced Cockpit, which includes a 12.3-inch screen in the dash and an analog tachometer with 7-inch HD screens on each side. Also standard is a 710-watt Bose audio system, 18-way sport seats, integrated headrests, and outboard-seat heating.

Under its hood, the 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo goes with a new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 that cranks out 550 horsepower and 567 pound-feet of torque. These are increases of 30 horses and 14 pound-feet over the previous generation’s 4.8-liter V-8. This potent V-8 mates with an eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission. The result is a 0-to-60 time of 3.7 seconds with the Sport Chrono Package, which is 0.1 seconds quicker than the last-generation Cayenne Turbo S. Without Sport Chrono, 60 mph comes in a still-respectable 3.9 seconds. Top speed rings in at 177 mph.

Helping keep the 2019 Cayenne in check is an all-new, lighter chassis. This new underpinning combines three-chamber air suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management. This system allows for six ride heights that the driver can choose or that the Cayenne selects based on the five driving modes the SUV is in. These driving modes include on-road, mud, gravel, sand, and rocks. Staggered tires sized 285/40 up front and 315/35 out back, and standard high-performance Porsche Surface Coated Brake round out the new chassis.

Porsche will open the order books for the 2019 Cayenne Turbo in December 2017, and it will arrive in fall 2018. The starting price will ring in at $124,600 plus a $1,050 destination fee.
