Jeep Launches Its 2017 Wrangler Rubicon Recon

The Jeep Wrangler is already the go-to new vehicle for off-road junkies, and now, with the launch of its Rubicon Recon trim, this icon is even more off-road ready.

The 2017 Wrangler Rubicon Recon takes the already tough SUV and ups its off-road prowess with a front axle that boasts strengthened tubes and heavy-duty end forgings. It also gains heavy-duty cast front and rear differential covers, and enhanced rock rails that are shortened to accommodate larger, off-road tires. Speaking of those tires, they are 32 inchers (it can accommodate up to 35-inch tires) wrapped around 17-inch, Low Gloss Granite Crystal-painted wheels. Its off-road capabilities are further enhanced by a half-inch lift kit.

On top of the extra off-road goodies, the Rubicon Recon also has some style updates. These come in the form of a Low Gloss Black grille with Low Gloss Granite Crystal inserts and headlamp rings, Low Gloss Black off-road bumpers, a red-based Jeep badge, and red tow hooks. This model comes standard with a Premium Sunrider soft top or an optional body-color hard top.

Inside, this new model sheds its rugged shell with plenty of upscale features. These include an eight-speaker audio system, heated black leather seating with “Rubicon” embroidery and red stitching, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with red stitching, black vinyl door armrests and center console lid, red-accented seatbelts, red-accented storage nets, unique gauges, red-accented axle locker and sway bar disconnect switched, and all-weather slush mats with red-accented Jeep logos.

Other standard features include the Jeep Connectivity Group, the Power Convenience Group, satellite radio, a remote starter, and auto climate control.

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon will be available in the standard Wrangler and the four-door Wrangler Unlimited — pricing will start from $39,145 and $42,945, respectively. The Rubicon Recon should hit showrooms later in February.
