Chevrolet loves make special appearance packages for its trucks and SUVs. The RST Special Edition Tahoe is anything but a skin-deep upgrade. You get hardcore performance, and a big shot fired in the new war for big horsepower for SUVs.

It adds the same 6.2-liter V-8 engine used in the Silverado, which makes the truck a blast to drive. That means Tahoe drivers will have 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque at their command. With this big, powerful engine comes the 10L80 10-speed automatic transmission used in the Camaro ZL1. It’s not the same beast, but features a different tune, plus taller gears and a completely new housing.

Also part of the package is a Borla performance exhaust system, which is supposed to add some horsepower at the wheels. You also get Brembo six-piston front brake calipers and larger rotors to keep everything reigned in.

While not as exciting, the pack changes up the exterior looks with a grille surround and headlight trims pieces that match the body color, plus black mirror caps, window surrounds, grille centers and Bowtie badges. Finally, the SUV gains 22-inch wheels that you can’t get anywhere else. For now, we’re left guess how much all this goodness will set you back.
