Chevrolet Reveals Powerful Tahoe RST Special Edition
Chevrolet loves make special appearance packages for its trucks and SUVs. The RST Special Edition Tahoe is anything but a skin-deep upgrade. You get hardcore performance, and a big shot fired in the new war for big horsepower for SUVs.
It adds the same 6.2-liter V-8 engine used in the Silverado, which makes the truck a blast to drive. That means Tahoe drivers will have 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque at their command. According to Chevrolet, the Tahoe RST will charge from 0 to 60 in 5.7 seconds. Not too bad for a burly SUV. This more powerful engine also means peak towing capacity of 8,400 pounds, so you can finally get that huge boat you’ve had your eye on.
With this big, powerful engine comes the 10L80 10-speed automatic transmission used in the Camaro ZL1. It’s not the same beast, but features a different tune, plus taller gears and a completely new housing.
Also part of the package is a Borla performance exhaust system, which is supposed to add some horsepower at the wheels. You also get Brembo six-piston front brake calipers and larger rotors to keep everything reigned in.
While not as exciting, the pack changes up the exterior looks with a grille surround and headlight trims pieces that match the body color, plus black mirror caps, window surrounds, grille centers and Bowtie badges. Finally, the SUV gains 22-inch wheels that you can’t get anywhere else. For now, we’re left guess how much all this goodness will set you back.
