Now FCA Doesn’t Want To Partner Up With Anyone
Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat Chrysler, likes to talk a lot. Some people wish he would shut up. He’s shot his mouth off about all sorts of things, but recently the most embarrassing item is all the other automakers he wants to become good buddies with his FCA. That insanity seems to finally be coming to a close.
The Detroit News is reporting that for now, Marchionne isn’t going to be focusing on mergers. No, instead, he wants to finish out his last two years as CEO by working to whittle down on the company’s debt. One might wonder how far along he’d be on that goal if the guy didn’t trying romancing GM, VW, and just about every other major automaker out there.
In the article The Detroit News ran, there’s some hilarious quote from Marchionne about not focusing on “unrealistic dreams.” Gee, I wonder who’s done more than his fair share of that?
Don’t think this means Marchionne doesn’t still want FCA to hook up with another automaker. The whole point of eliminating debt is to make the company more attractive of someone like Toyota. After all, who wants to get into a relationship with that kind of baggage?
Another interesting detail from the article: Marchionne wants an insider to be the next CEO. That’s right, the guy’s looking to have one of this underlings run the show once he’s gone.
