Ford Edge Gains a New SEL Sport Package

With the lulls between two major auto shows, like Geneva and New York, the smaller shows get their chance to shine. The Dallas Fort Worth Auto Show takes center stage today, as Ford debuted its new SEL Sport Appearance Package for the Edge.

The SEL Sport Appearance Package takes the already well-equipped Edge SEL and turns it up a notch. This crossover’s exterior is highlighted by exclusive 10-spoke 19-inch wheels coated in Magnetic Metallic and Magnet Metallic-painted grille surround, mirror caps, rear spoiler, and front and rear skid plates. Also setting the body apart from the crowd are its blacked-out headlight bezels and window trim.

Inside, Ford chose to stick with cloth seating at the behest of customers, as buyers in areas where it’s very hot or cold prefer it over leather, which can get melt-your-skin hot or freeze-your-gonads cold. The seats also have an exclusive color pattern, as their main covering is Mayan Gray and the perforated inserts are Umber-colored sueded cloth. The latter color also sets off the rear of the front headrests and the contrast stitching. The final interior tweaks are the Copper Sands textured applique on the dash and Umber-colored “Edge” logo on the floor mats.

This package is available with the Edge SEL with the standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder or with the optional 3.5-liter V-6.

Ford will make this kit available on the 2018 Ford Edge starting in the fall of 2017. While we do not have pricing information on the 2018 Edge, Ford did announce this package will carry a $1,295 premium.
