Refreshed TLX to Debut in New York

The Acura TLX has had quite the run since taking over for both the TL and the TSX in 2015, as it’s been the perennial best-selling sedan in Acura’s lineup. And with its sharp looks, loaded interior, and slick handling, who could blame buyers for flocking to it.

As with all things, the TLX’s run is starting to come to an end, as sales have cooled as of late. Refusing to let its hottest-selling sedan cool to the point other Acura sedans, the Automaker has a refresh primed and ready to go.

While the details in the press release are a little thin, the teaser image gives away a few important bits. Most importantly, the TLX takes on the new Diamond Pentagon grille that we first saw on the Acura Precision Concept and later on the MDX. It also boasts a sportier hood with taller ridges, new LED headlights with a full-length LED turn signals, and a new front apron.

Other than these visible bits, the rest of the refreshed 2018 Acura TLX remains a bit of a mystery. The automaker does mention that it’ll include new premium features and technological enhancements that’ll make it “among the most technologically advanced and well-equipped cars in its segment.”

What remains to be revealed is the powertrain. The TLX is closely related to the Honda Accord, and the latter is set to gain two new turbocharged four-cylinder engines in 2018: a 1.5-liter to replace the current base engine and a 2.0-liter in place of the V6. Typically, Acura models are a year or so behind their related Honda model’s powertrain updates, but there is a possibility we will see these new engines in the 2018 TLX.

Luckily, the wait to see this new sedan isn’t too long, as the 2018 Acura TLX will debut at the New York Auto Show on April 11, 2017. Stay tuned for updates.
