Rolls-Royce Mercilessly Destroys Diamonds For Paint

If you have enough money to buy a Rolls-Royce Ghost, there’s not much you can do to make the vehicle more opulent. Still, Rolls-Royce found a way by crushing 1,000 diamonds to make a special paint.

So you don’t trouble your one-percenter conscious, all of the diamonds that were mercilessly crushed in the making of this paint were supposedly ethically sourced. You won’t need to worry about your car being painted with blood diamonds.

This extended-wheelbase version of the car is called the Ghost Elegance. The diamond-encrusted paint is featured only on the top half of the exterior, creating a shimmering effect you just don’t get with metallic paint jobs.

On the inside you don’t get any diamond control knobs or diamond-flanked vanity mirrors. Instead, things are pretty toned down, making for what I think is an odd pairing. The dominant color is black, although some white leather and tartan details add a little panache to the space.

For now, the diamond paint job isn’t part of the features list for the Ghost. But you can get a bespoke model with pretty much anything, which was the point of this whole stunt.
