Ford Is Preparing Some Special New Mustang Models

One of the greatest car chase scenes ever is in Bullitt, so there’s no wonder Steve McQueen’s Mustang from the movie still wows people. Ford has capitalized on that fact a few times, and it looks like it’s going to happen again.

People on the Mustang6G forum spotted some imagery in the background of a video put out by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, showing the behind-the-scenes of a Ford commercial shoot. The images seemed to show a modern version of the Bullitt, completely with dark green paint, dark wheels and the distinct badge.

While automakers do mockups all the time without following through on them, Ford would be stupid to not do another Bullitt Mustang, so this is probably legit.

More shocking is an Easter egg hidden right on Ford’s media site. One of the images for the 2018 Mustang shows part of a fifth-gen Boss 302 in the background. The school of thought is that it’s a hint at things to come. Considering the Mustang is always in a dogfight with the Camaro, while Dodge is pumping out even more insane versions of the Challenger, Ford needs to keep pulling on the nostalgia strings to keep sales high.

A new Mustang Boss 302 would be a great answer to the new Camaro 1LE.

Keep in mind both of these Mustang models are rumored, not confirmed, so don’t get your hopes up too high, yet.
