Little Buick Is Getting Aggressive

Buick is like the punk little brother of Cadillac, but things are changing. Not content to be known as the brand with bland styling, it’s been dialing up the aggression something big. And if a Detroit Free Press story is to be believed, Buick is about to blow the roof off.

To get the word out, there’s a marketing blitz in the works. Those “Is that a Buick?” ads will keep running, because enough people still haven’t realized modern Buicks aren’t the land boat once favored by grandma.

If you watch college sports, prepare to keep seeing those commercials until you want to puke. Buick thinks they stand out and are helping it gain more ground. The results right now are a mixed bag as far as sales.

Instead of just relying on new/revised vehicles and telling everyone over and over that Buicks are Buicks, expect the marketing message to evolve some. Basically Buick will be bragging about all of its quality, customer satisfaction and reliability rankings. For example, it’s the only American brand to have landed in the top 10 reliability list for Consumer Reports two years in a row.
