Buick Reportedly Shows off a Regal Wagon to Dealers
It is no secret that Buick and Opel share a lot. And by “a lot” I mean dang near everything. Put almost any Buick next to Opel’s European lineup, and you can bet your last dollar it will bear a striking resemblance to at least one model from GM’s European arm. With the Opel Insignia—AKA, the European Buick Regal—boasting a wagon body across the pond, there have been numerous rumors of the Regal getting a wagon version too. Now, according to a report from GM Insider, Buick all but confirmed the wagon’s arrival by showing it off at its 2016 dealer meeting in Texas.
Details remain very scarce on this forthcoming wagonized Regal, but the report does indicate that it’ll be a part of the 2018 lineup. Given the Opel Insignia already has a wagon variant (pictured above), we can get a general idea of what the Buick wagon will look like. Just slap on the waterfall grille, and you have the Buick version. There is a possibility of a restyle between now and then, so there could be some significant changes before the wagon makes it to the U.S.
The folks at GM Insider had no information on what will power the wagonzed Regal, but several members went on about how badass a 259-horsepower Regal GS Wagon would be.
We’ll continue monitoring this report and bring you updates as they become available.
