We Now Know The Kia Stinger Is Fast

When Kia revealed the Stinger, people stopped and noticed. I’ll admit, seeing a Kia that was good-looking felt strange and odd. Since then, I’ve come to grips with the fact that the Koreans can make an attractive GT. And we now know it has the guts to back up those looks.

There’s no more guessing about how fast the Kia Stinger will hit 62 from a standstill. During the car’s debut in South Korea, the automaker proudly declared how quickly it can move.

If you opt for the larger of the two engine options, which is a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V-6 pumping out 365 horsepower, the car gets there in 4.9 seconds. That’s with rear-wheel drive and the 8-speed automatic. Of course, that number hasn’t been verified by any independent reviewers because there’s no production Stinger available yet.

That’s a pretty impressive time, no matter how you cut it. Sure, it’s not 3.5 seconds, and the car doesn’t throttle out 600 horsepower, but it also should be something people who don’t have M.D. after their name can afford to own. Also, just remember that before you read this, you didn’t think any Kias were even remotely quick. This is only the beginning.
