Alfa Romeo Reveals Stelvio Pricing Scheme

SUVs are hot these days, and that’s why the Stelvio is critical for Alfa Romeo, if it hopes to survive the North American market. The Italians just revealed pricing for the Stelvio and Stelvio Ti, which start at $41,995 and $43,995.

That’s a pretty solid deal, considering Alfa Romeo promises an SUV that handles better than perhaps all others. We’ll see if that’s reality, but supposedly all models achieve almost a 50/50 weight distribution. Standard Q4 all-wheel drive should help, plus I always think two-wheel-drive SUVs are stupid and pointless.

Both models come with a completely aluminum, 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, which uses direct injection. It pushes out a healthy 280 horsepower and 306 lb.-ft. of torque. Mated to the engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission promises quick and precise shifts. Alfa Romeo says the SUV does 0-60 in 5.4 seconds.

You’ll be able to get your hands on a brand new 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio or Stelvio Ti in the late part of the summer. If I were a betting man, I’d wager these will be quite popular, but we’ll see. It seems like Americans can’t get their fill of SUVs. Add in some wild Italian flair, and Alfa Romeo could finally have the cash cow it desperately needs.

As for the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, we won’t have any pricing or release info until towards the end of the year.
