Jeep Wagoneers Won’t Be Grand Cherokees At All

A nasty rumor has been circulating that the upcoming Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer will be nothing but dressed-up Grand Cherokees. That’s completely false.

Jeep has been actively clarifying the misunderstanding, which if you ask me is all about stirring up controversy for controversy’s sake.

People took a comment Mike Manley, head of the Jeep brand, and blew it out of proportion. Manley said the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer will be a premium SUV, and an even more premium version of the SUV. How that means they’ll just be really nice Grand Cherokees is a logical jump I can’t understand.

Expect the new Wagoneers to be about the same size as the Dodge Durango, which uses a stretched-out version of the same platform as the Grand Cherokee. They’re supposed to take on the likes of the Range Rover, so expect some pretty high-end features.
