Some enthusiasts—myself included—consider the Cayman and Boxster the best drivers’ cars Porsche offers. Yes, even better than the 911. This is mostly thanks to the perfect balance that the mid-mounted engines create, but it is also evident in their standard transmissions. Across the board, the Boxster and Cayman come with a standard six-speed transmission. What’s more, the range-topping Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder are available only with the manual transmission—the exact opposite of the 911 GT3.
