New GLC-Class gets the 362-Horsepower AMG Treatment

Ever since the GLC-Class debuted, we have all been counting down until the automaker slapped an AMG badge on it. Today, that countdown reaches zero as the Mercedes-AMG GLC43 has finally debuted, and it’s got its heart set on crushing the competition.

Leading the charge for the GLC43 is a 3.0-liter biturbo V-6 powerplant that injects a healthy 362 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque into the small crossover. Power comes in almost the second the driver mashes the long and skinny pedal as peak torque starts from a low 2,000 rpm and hangs on all the way through 4,200 revs. Doing the cog-swapping is an AMG-tuned nine-speed auto transmission with a double-declutching feature in Sport and Sport Plus modes. All of this heads through a rear-biased all-wheel-drive system.

This advanced powertrain gets the GLC43 to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds, making it 0.2 seconds quicker than the Macan GTS but 0.2 seconds slower than the Macan Turbo and 0.3 seconds quicker than the Audi SQ5. Top speed checks in at 155 mph.

Keeping things stable for the GLC43 is its AIR BODY CONTROL system that has three stages: Comfort, Sport, and Sport Plus. The GLC’s chassis also features exclusive steering knuckles and load-bearing ball joints to maximize agility.

A special design comes with the AMG territory, and the GLC is no exception with its sport-focused exterior and interior designs.

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG GLC43 will make its official debut at the New York Auto Show on March 23rd and it will arrive in dealers by the end of the year.
