Hyundai Hints At Big Vehicle Reveal In Chicago
Santa Cruz Crossover Truck Concept
Hyundai has a big surprise up its sleeve for Chicago, according to a new report from Car and Driver. You’re probably thinking what everyone else is, that it’s a production version of the Santa Cruz pickup. That would be big and great, but we’ll have to wait longer for that happen, if it happens.
In case you don’t know, Chicago is the show automakers usually reserve for big vehicles, like ones that are sized larger than others. So it seems Hyundai literally has a big surprise.
The most obvious option is that it’s making a return to the full-size, three-row SUV market. Subaru’s already been pushing in that direction, and many other automakers are pulling in buckets of cash selling them.
Far less likely is a full-size truck. That would really irk people rooting for the Santa Cruz. Besides, breaking into that market segment ain’t exactly easy.
Even though smaller trucks are gaining popularity, it seems Hyundai is dragging its feet making a production-ready Santa Cruz. Instead, it likely is making another go at producing a big, three-row, people-hauling SUV soccer mommies will clamor to buy.
