The F-Series Super Duty, however, continued on through the 216 model year with the same look. Today, Ford has announced that it will redesign the Super Duty and move its weight-saving measures to the big boy F-Series in the 2017 model year.

Like the F-150, the visual changes are not striking, but they are certainly noticeable. The biggest visual changes are up front, which is where Ford added in set of new headlights and a new grille, both of which give the Super Duty a bolder look. Down the sides, the rocker panels are clearly reshaped, while the rear end has a new set of taillights and an updated tailgate.

These changes include a body crafted from military-grade aluminum and a box frame that is made from 95 percent high-strength steel. The body and the high-strength steel frame are responsible for dropping the Super Duty’s weight by 350 pounds, while the frame is now 24 times stiffer than before.

The F-Series Super Duty is also officially going all techy on us. It features available LED lighting, adaptive cruise control, up to seven cameras monitoring different angles, an in-cab tire pressure monitoring system, adaptive steering, Sync 3, a blind-spot information center, lane departure warning, and LED box lighting.

The 2017 F-Series Super Duty pickups carries on with the 6.2-liter V-8, the 6.7-liter V-8 diesel. The chassis cab model has the same two available engines, but it also adds in an available 6.8-liter V-10 unit.

Ford has yet to reveal a specific release date for the new F-Series Super Duty, but it did announce it will arrive some time in 2016.
