Lotus Expands the Evora GT430 Lineup

With financial backing from Geely, Lotus is working on expanding its vehicle lineup. The first order of business is a new Evora GT430 Sport. This new addition is anything but a pushover, boasting a top speed of 196 mph, making it quicker than any other street-legal Lotus ever made.

The biggest difference between the Evora GT430 and the Sport version is the body. The new model doesn’t have all the crazy aero elements. Mechanically, they’re the same, using the 3.5-liter V-6 supercharged engine, which boasts a mighty 430 horsepower.

Dropping aero parts actually sheds some weight. It drops about 22 pounds off the curb weight, which is something.

Lotus revealed it’s offering an automatic transmission option for both Evora GT430 models, starting in January of next year. I guess it will help with sales, which means more Lotus cars to play with in the future. At least it’s an option, and not the standard or only offering. Also, the automatic will make the car go 0-60 in 3.6 seconds, making it quicker than with the manual transmission.

Of course, more changes are coming to Lotus, but they’re honestly probably a couple of years out, at least. For now, we get a quicker and faster Evora GT430.
