Would Alfa Romeo Really Cancel The 4C?

The Alfa Romeo 4C is arguably one of the best bad idea vehicles on the market today. There’s a nasty rumor going around that it’s going to be canceled, and that’s no good.

It all started when Autoline Daily referenced a report from Auto Forecast Solutions that said the 4C would go bye-bye in 2020. Adding insult to injury, the firm thinks there won’t be a follow-up second generation model.

Considering the 4C is a hardcore car with no power steering and a ride quality that’ll exacerbate any lower back problems, it’s not for everyone. Neither is the Viper, which is going away yet again. Being a dedicated automotive enthusiast is a lonely road.

Should you panic and go buy an Alfa Romeo 4C? By all means, buy the car, but leave the panicking part out. You’ll have tons of fun whipping through turns once you get out of any urban gridlock, and the snarling little four-cylinder engine is a blast to hear right behind your head. Ignorant fellow motorists will think you bought a Ferrari, and that’s fun.

Fiat Chrysler isn’t confirming this dirty little rumor. Even if the 4C isn’t a huge sales generator, it’s a halo vehicle that showcases how the Italians can make a sexy, engaging vehicle. Considering Alfa Romeo’s been out of the U.S. market for far too long, it needs to keep working on its image, and the 4C is at least one good way to do just that.
