Land Rover’s movement into sub-branding is well underway, and the first model to become its own lineup is the Discovery. The first model to come from this line of SUVs is the Discovery Sport. To date, we don’t quite know what Land Rover will deliver to us exactly, but if the Discovery Vision concept car that it unveiled is any indication, we are in for quite a treat.
To help get us all prepared and amped up for the September 3rd reveal of the new Discovery Sport, Land Rover has revealed a teaser video that gives us a quick fly-through view of the cabin. There is not a ton of information given up by this quick look, but we do get to see the flexible rear seats, which hold three people, and slide and fold in multiple directions to help make it easier to load up cargo or find the ideal seating position. We also get a good look at that large, panoramic roof that gives you a nice view of the nighttime sky.
In a weird twist, Virgin Galactic — the civilian space shuttle — is somehow intertwined with the reveal of the Discovery Sport. I am admittedly a little baffled by this collaboration, but we’ll see what it brings to the table.
Otherwise, the video really just shows the typical, decked-out Land Rover cabin that we have all become accustomed to. The British automaker has come a long way from the rough-and-tumble, go-anywhere SUV of yesteryear. Sure, Land Rovers are still plenty capable, but they now provide buyers with the utmost in comfort and convenience too.
The new Discovery Sport will bow on September 3rd, and we’ll bring you all the details once Land Rover releases them.
