7. Volkswagen Beetle Dune
Even though the car shown off at Detroit wasn’t the final vehicle that will be used in WRC races, it’s forgivable considering a production version of the compact car would be amazing. Hearkening back to the Baja Bug, VW took a Beetle R-Line and gave 19-inch wheels, a track that is 1.1 inches wider, and some muscular-looking fender flares. It has the same engine as the R-Line, plus a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. An electronic differential distributes engine torque to the front wheels. The rear spoiler can also act as a rack for carrying skis or other large items on the sloping roof. Many people have speculated the car will make it to production since the concept looked more like a production vehicle, so there is a very real chance you can drive one in the future.
