We all knew the day was coming, and today we got one step closer to the end of the line for the only Mitsubishi that really matters, the Lancer Evolution. This follows the long-anticipated reveal of the official production prototype of the Lancer Evolution Final Edition (Concept, not the final prototype, pictured above) to a group of saddened enthusiasts.

Mitsubishi didn’t stop at mechanical mods, as the Lancer Evo Final Edition will be visually different. It will come with a dark-chrome front grille, gloss-black bumper bar and hood-vent surrounds, and two optional roof colors: white or black. Buyers can choose their Lancer Evo Final Edition in one of five colors, including red, white, gray, black and blue.

Finally, the cabin. In here, Mitsubishi wrapped the Recaro seats, steering wheel, shift knob, parking brake handle, and console lid in black leather with re contrast stitching.

Mitsu didn’t announce when the Lancer Evo Final Edition will make its way to the U.S., but we do know that there will only be 1,600 available here
