200,000+ Reservations Say the Tesla Model 3 is a Hit, but will it Deliver?

In short, yes it can. Unfortunately, it is going to require Tesla doing a lot of what Tesla isn’t very good at. Step one will be delivering the Model 3 by the end of 2017 as Elon Musk laid out at the launch of the new EV. For those who’ve been under a rock for the past few years, Tesla has a track record of delays, the latest example of Tesla’s knack for missing launch dates was the Model X.

The other key step will be releasing the Model 3 sans any crazy glitches or widespread flaws, like door handles that stop working, iffy climate control systems, and claims of rattles and squeaks early in life. While some Model S owners have nothing but love for their car, there are plenty who gripe about the same issues over and over again. According to reports, Tesla has been good about fixing these issues, but there comes a time when you’d rather have a problem-free rig than great customer service.

Given Tesla can know those two steps out, then I see nothing but massive success for the Model 3. More than 215 miles of range, 60 mph sprints in under six seconds, and a $35k price tag; what’s not to love?
