Toyota Takes the 2017 86 a Little Upscale With the 860 Special Edition

If there is one consistent negative about the Toyota 86, it’s the lack of premium goodies, as its standard features are sparse and its options list is quite short. Toyota is somewhat addressing this with the new 860 Special Edition for the tiny sports car.

The 860 Special Edition’s body will come draped in either Supernova Orange with black body stripes or Halo White. It will also include a rear spoiler, heated side-view mirrors, touch-activated unlocking doors, unique 17-inch alloy wheels, LED fog lights, and a special underbody panel that gives it a unique look and better airflow.

Inside this limited-run 86 will boast more premium equipment, including push-button start, dual-zone climate control, black leather seats with orange contrast stitching, heated front seats, a leather shift boot, steering wheel and parking brake lever with contrast orange stitching, and a unique center console placard.

On the tech side of things, there will be a new 4.2-inch multi-information screen that displays the G-force meter, a stop watch, horsepower, torque, engine coolant and oil temps, and miles per gallon.

The 2017 Toyota 860 Special Edition will only be available in limited quantities – 860 of each color. With the manual transmission, it will start from $29,155. The six-speed auto with rev matching bumps the price to $29,875.

The 860 Special Edition will be in showrooms later in March.
