VW Shows Off its New Scirocco GTS

Ah, the forbidden fruit that is the Volkswagen Scirocco. Not since the early 1990s have we seen a Scirocco offered new at a VW dealership, and now we have yet another version of the hot hatch to fanaticize about, the Scirocco GTS.

This new Scirocco makes use of a 2.0-liter TSI engine that puts down a healthy 220 PS (217 horsepower) and 258 pound-feet of torque. This engine mates to a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-seed dual-clutch transmission. Regardless of the transmission, the Scirocco GTS sprints to 100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds and up to a top speed of 246 km/h.
While the engine is nothing new, there are plenty of new buts that set the GTS apart. On the outside, this new trim adds in new 18-inch Norwich alloy wheels, red brake calipers, the R-Line exterior package, and black mirror caps. Inside the cabin, the GTS trim adds in a black-and-red theme, a black headliner, Piano Black inlays on the center console and dashboard, a sports steering wheel with red stitching and Piano Black spokes, stainless-steel pedals, GTS logos on the seat backrests, a golf-ball gear knob, chome trim, Piano Black air vents, and red stitching on the seat belts, hand brake, gear shifter boot, center armrest, and floor mats.

Buyers who need a little more luxury can choose from a few options. These include black Vienna leather, a panoramic sunroof, bi-xenon headlights, and a multifunction steering wheel.
VW didn’t mention when the new Scirocco will be available for purchase or its starting price, but it did mention that it’ll be available in six colors: Deep Black, Indium Grey, Urano Grey, Pure White, Oryx White, or Flash Red.
