Mini is no stranger to special editions, and today, it has released a new one based on the Cooper and Cooper S. This new Cooper Seven harks back to 1959 when the Austin Seven and Mini Morris Minor made their debuts. While it shares nothing but parts of its name with the two classic models, it does have a handful of exclusive features that are sure to attract nostalgia-seeking buyers.

The body gets a few minor tweaks on this limited-run model, like Melting Silver-painted mirror caps and roof, racing stripes in Melting Silver with Malt Brown surrounds, exclusive 17-inch wheels in a two-tone scheme, the Seven logo above the side indicator surrounds on the front wheel arches, and the Mini Seven logo on the doorsill finishers. The Mini Cooper Seven will be available in four colors, including Lapisluxury Blue, Pepper White, Midnight Black, and British Racing Green, and it will come in both two- and four-door Cooper models.

The interior of the new Seven also gets a nice upgrade. The first thing buyers will notice are the standard sports seats with black leather in the centers and oblique grey cloth bolsters with discrete Malt Brown pinstripes. Optionally, buyers can get Cross Punch Carbon Black leather, Lounge Satellite Grey leather and MINI Yours Lounge Carbon Black leather interior color schemes. Moving on, the Seven also gains a Seven logo on the top of the touchscreen surround and various piano-black accents throughout.

With its two variants—the Cooper Seven and the Cooper S Seven—this special model has two powertrain options. In the base Cooper model, it has a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with 134 horsepower while its Cooper S version gets a 189-horsepower 2.0-liter.

Pricing and its release date remain under wraps, for now, so stay tuned for updates.
