The Lotus 3-Eleven Gets Teased Ahead of its Debut

Since the arrival of Jean-Marc Giles at Lotus, things have been getting exponentially better for the one-time fledgling automaker. It has just released a new product in the Evora 400, it’s set to launch its first-ever crossover in the near future, and soon we’ll see a new track-day toy in the 3-Eleven. In anticipation for the reveal of the latter at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the British automaker has revealed a few teaser images of it on social media.

Though the teaser shows us practically nothing, there are plenty of rumors swirling around about this new rig. The one thing we do know is that Lotus will base it on the Exige’s platform, it’ll weigh just 1,962 pounds, and that it’ll be the successor to the 2-Eleven track monster. With this being the successor to the 2-Eleven, it’s only logical that the 3-Eleven is an open-top, track-focused rig.

Though Lotus will tune the 3-Eleven for the track, rumor has it that there will also be optional components available to make it street legal, but there is no mention of it being street legal (or even available, for that matter) in the U.S.
Powering this lightweight racer will be Lotus’ staple Toyota-sourced 3.5-liter V-6 engine that Jean-Marc Gales said Lotus will retune to produce 420 horsepower. Given this insane output and the low curb weight, I fully expect a 0-to-60 time in the three-second range, maybe less. Gales himself confirmed that the 3-Eleven will top out around 180 mph and that it’ll lap the Nurburgring in just over seven minutes.
Pricing remains unconfirmed for now, but the majority of folks expect it to arrive in UK dealers at £70,000 ($108,192). As expected, the 3-Eleven will also have a limited production run of just 311 units, so you’d better get your money in order if you’re planning to pick one of these up. They will likely not last too long.
We’ll bring you all of the official details when the Festival of Speed takes place on June 26th, 27th, and 28th.
