The Chevy Trax Gets a Midnight Edition of its Own
The Chevy Trax certainly wouldn’t be my first pick if I were out shopping for a subcompact crossover, but at least it is further up the list than the 500X or Jeep Renegade. This tiny crossover, however, seems to be quite popular, as it has already sold 57,707 units in the first 11 months of this year. In celebration of this achievement, Chevy has announced that it’ll offer a Trax Midnight Edition to buyers looking for something a little more special from their small people haulers.
We have all seen the Midnight Edition models from GM in recent years, so none of the add-on equipment should be a surprise. This model is based on the LTZ trim level of the Trax, and it will gain black wheels, bezels, beltline moldings, and door handles. Also donning black is the license plate applique. Inside the cabin the seats feature grey accents and the floor mats have grey piping.
Other than these few darkening additions, the Trax Midnight Edition is unchanged from the LTZ trim Chevy based it on. It comes equipped with a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine that produces 138 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive is available as an option.
Being based on the LTZ trim means that the Midnight Edition comes with plenty of premium features. These include a seven-speaker Bose audio system, a six-way power driver’s seat, cruise control, a remote starter, rear park assist, heated mirrors, leatherette seats, and more.
The Trax Midnight Edition will hit showroom floors starting February 2016 at a $500 premium over the LTZ trim level’s base price of $26,125.
